Do you like the feeling of goosebumps on your skin and chills going up your spine? Do you like stories that involve creeps and terrible deaths? If so, you will love the story Tell-tale Heart. The short story, Tell-tale Heart, is a creepy, spine-tingling, short novel written by Edgar Allan Poe. The story is about a creepy man who was crazy for his whole life. During the story, his craziness leads him into danger and ends up taking away the life of his old friend all because of his bothering eye. In the end, he does something very unexpected which makes you want to read more to find out. The story includes these 3 literary components: a frightening mood, amazing imagery, and a interesting plot.

First, the imagery. The amazing imagery in Tell-tale Heart gives a sense of realism and life-experiences. "He was stone dead," (pg. 629) is a quote from the book that describes the death of the old man. This quote," he had the eye of a vulture-a pale blue eye, with a film over it," is a great example of imagery because it helps describe the condition of the old man's eye and is found on pg. 625. As you can see, the imagery of Tell-tale Heart is very amazing and well described.

Second, the plot. The interesting plot gives a sense of amazement, curiosity, and surprises! This quote," I made up my mind to take the life of the old man, and thus rid myself of the eye forever,"(pg.625) explains that the crazy guy was willing to kill the poor old man because of his scary-looking eye! But in this quote," I loved the old man. He never wronged me. He never gave me insult,"(pg.625) means that the old man never did anything wrong to hurt the guy. That's what makes it so interesting. Why would you kill someone if they did nothing wrong? As you read more, you will find amazement, curiosity, and surprises in the plot.

Third, the mood. The frightening mood in Tell-tale Heart gives the reader a sense of death and scare. The mood is also described as scary and death-threatening! For example:" Presently, I heard a slight groan,"(pg.627) is a quote from Tell-tale Heart that describes the scariness of the sounds around him, and the other part," And I knew it was the groan of mortal terror,"(pg.627) explains the slight groan in the story. As you can see, the mood in Tell-tale Heart is very frightening and scary.

Overall, the short story,Tell-tale Heart, involves a frightening mood, amazing imagery, and an interesting plot. This story is one of the best stories from Edgar Allan Poe which is why I chose it. So if you are wanting to read a short story that includes crazy people, tragic deaths, and surprise endings then Tell-tale Heart is the type of book for you.
