Her parents are Larry and Lani Aufdengarten, which got divorced when she was about seven or eight. “I grew up mostly with my dad and later developed a better relationship with my mom thankfully. She married Robert Jones on July 14, 2001. She has a son who is three and a half years old, named Riley. Lea Ann has a half-brother named Corbin.

Interview with Curtis Lehman

Emily Lehman

12/9/10

Curtis Grant Lehman

This man happens to be a great elephant trainer at the Wild Animal Park and a loving father of two girls. Curtis was born on October 17, 1961 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Curtis’s parents are Abram Lehman and Leoncia Fagen, and are still living today. Throughout Curtis’s life he lived in Pennsylvania, New York, Hawaii, Guam, and California. He graduated from Mt. Carnell High school and SDSU College. His careers so far was an animal trainer at Sea World and an animal trainer at the Wild Animal Park. Curtis Lehman was married to a great woman, Kellie VanBockern in September 26, 1993 and had two girls named Emily Lehman and Abigail Lehman.

Therefore, Curtis’s childhood was very different compared to ours today. The kids played outdoors until dark. They didn’t have computers or cell phones and they didn’t have to wear bicycle helmets, seat belts, and could ride in the back of a pick-up truck. Curtis says,” Life as a kid was very fun.” If Curtis could change one of his features, he would change his height a little bit taller so he can slam-dunk a basketball!

Likewise, Curtis’s teenage years were one of the most fun years of his life. School was very fun for him because he loved playing sports, hanging out with his friends, and making people laugh everyday. Some of the difficult things during his life were when his parents got divorced after his graduation of high school, paying his own way through college, and starting a new job. Out of all of Curtis’s mistakes, the only thing that he wishes to change is the way he treated his peers during high school. Curtis said,” I wanted to be kinder and more caring.” But besides that, he wouldn’t change anything else because he learned from his mistakes, and his mistakes helped him become a better person.

Lastly, Curtis’s adulthood was very exciting. His accomplishments were the only one from his family to graduate from college, a professional animal trainer for over 25 years, and the gift of two wonderful daughters. “Life as a parent is very rewarding,” Curtis says, “but always worried about safety of the kids because of all the badness in the world.” Yes, being a parent takes lots of responsibility! Curtis wouldn’t want to relive anything again because when life was good he enjoyed it, and when life was tough he got through it. Curtis says,” I picture my future simplifying things so that I have more time for the things that matter and want to do like family and vacations.”

In conclusion, Curtis’s childhood, teenage years, and adulthood were very fun and is a thing that he will always remember. By working with the animals at the zoo, Curtis has learned to love and treat animals, including people, with great care. These events in his life were very special. He says,” Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get.”

Her mistakes in life were she would have gone to college at an early age but she’s fixing it by going now. Christina Marie Ross (Torrie's bio)

She successfully juggles her time between playing a full time sport, keeping up her college scholarship, and giving lessons to young pitchers. This person, Christina Marie Ross, must truly be an extraordinary woman if she devotes her free time into the sports interests of today’s youth. Christina is an inspiration and roll model for all young people who aspire to be their best possible hardworking self.

Christina Marie Ross was born in September 5, 1986 at the Berugo Hills Hospital. Today she lives in Alpine, but as a child she moved from California, to Kansas, and Missouri. She lived with her Parents Herb and Ginger Ross and attended Valencia High School. Christina loved math but hated reading. In school she enjoyed the company of many friends, from all different groups. She grew up as an only child and spent a lot of time with her parents and all family on holidays she enjoys every holiday except Valentines Day. This childhood might seem a little lonely but she believes it was, “Awesome, I did not have to share with anyone.” As a young girl she played many sports, she participated in Softball, tennis, soccer and Gymnastics. Christina Ross had an active childhood, which shaped her into the woman she is today

Today Christina, living in alpine, is a woman of many values. She pursued her softball career through High School and received a full scholarship to the University of Kansas, but moved to SDSU. She was the star pitcher there for four years and loved every hardworking moment of it. She grew up with a flight attendant mom therefore she traveled often. She’s been to Holland, Greece, Eastern Europe, Prague, and Italy. When I asked her favorite she said, “Prague because of it’s fun atmosphere and culture, and Italy because of the gelato.” 24-year-old Christina, like any other college student, is still searching for that perfect career, but at the moment is managing accounts. She has yet to be married and has no children, but really her life has just begun she has many goals in mind for the future.

Christina who strives for success knows what she wants for her future. She plans to marry and wants to experience a big family since she was an only child. Christina still is unaware what career she would like to have but someday she plans to build and design her own house, but she doesn't want to grow up right now, all at once she still looks back on the old days. I asked her if she could go back and give herself some piece of advice what would it be? "Try to decide what she wanted to be when she grew up sooner, being grown up is not fun." A mistake she's made she'd want to change is she wished she would have played tennis and gone to Wimbledon. I asked her if she had some advice for the youth she said to stay in school, don't do drugs, and make sure you find time to enjoy the little things. Christina has determination and is a hard worker she thanks her parents for always being there for her they instill solid core values. Christina who has already accomplished so much still has the rest of her life ahead.

Christina Ross is a talented young woman who has a lot offer. She sets an example for whom ever she is around. Whether it be her teammates, young students, or classmates she stands above the rest.

Kaylajo Berger

1/2/10

Per.1/2

E.L.A

This woman holds a household together, takes care of horses, work, and still finds the time to take care of two kids and occasionally a husband. This is what Lisa Jo Berger does every day. Lisa was born May 9,1964 in Elkhorn Wisconsin.  Her parent names are Jean Jacquelyn Neely and Larry Wayne Neely Sr.  She lived in many different places and went to many different schools, because her dad was in the military and every 3-year he would be shipped to somewhere else. She also had a pretty cool little brother Larry Jr a.k.a. Little Larry; he’s not so small any more. I’m going to tell you about her childhood, teenage years, and adulthood.

Lisas childhood was very interesting in good ways and bad ways. “ Some times you might have to do a little work to be a kid’’ is one of her favorite sayings. I think every one can relate to that saying because it’s so true. Every kid does work then go back to having fun, like Lisa, for example when its rains go sliding down a muddy hill with your brother. This next quote relates to having fun,“ Think before you do some thing because there might be a consequent. ’’ If you might be doing some thing fun but it might come back and bite you in the butt! There also might be a good consequence that comes with it too. Well this is how some of her child hood was, now lets roll into her teenage years.

Her teenage years were fun, but the down side was that she had a part time job during the week. “It might not be all that exiting to have a job so young, but, looking back it was worth it.’’  That is so true because you hate the idea of working but you get a little extra cash. All thought it could be hard the first month or so, but it prepares you for the real world. One off the mistakes she mad was kind of fun, ‘‘I wished I had learned in my youth age not to run up credit card debits.’’ This taught her to be more aware of her spending habits. I think this is part of the reason that she got a job. Make sure you try not to do the same mistake as Lisa see does do this now in her adulthood.

In her adulthood is when she meets her husband Ronny. “ I remember when we first meet at a bar and I said well do you have any hair under that hat, and I lifted it up and said well I guess you don’t.” Since then in away they have always been together. I’m glad that they have always been together. “ After we first meet he gave me his number, and I never called him and sure enough a month later we meet at a rodeo.” You got to admit that’s when you know your mean for each other. Since then they had two girls Kyleejo age14 and Kaylajo/Shorty age13. Well this is most of her adulthood.

This is Lisa Jo Berger’s life story about her childhood, teenage years, and adulthood. She loves her horses, family and friends but the most important thing in the world to her is her family.  She has made many impacts on the world and lives of others, because she sticks out as a loving, caring, and supportive mom.

She got good grades like a’s and b’s. If she got any bad grades like c’s she would be in big trouble with her dad. Her dad now teaches a collage class. My mom would take back that she didn’t go to collage right after high school, instead she went to police academy to be trained to be a cop.  She is now a lieutenant for the San Diego police department.

My mom played softball when she was younger. She was pretty good but she didn’t practice a lot so she could’ve been better. My moms favorite thing to do is watch me play baseball and my sister play softball. Her favorite place to be is at the beach, she loves to sit in the warm sand or surf in the ocean.

My moms’ first job was in the credit department in sears. She now works for the San Diego Police Department.  She love being a cop. She has been a cop for 25 years. My mom went into the Police academy from University of San Diego High.

My mom is amazing I wouldn’t trade anything for her. She is awesome loving caring and smart. My mom was born in Kansas and now she is a cop. This is a real amazing mom.

Have you ever wondered someone from a middle child of 13.In a poor household to grow up to be in air force intelligence and get top-secret clearance. Sounds like James bond right, well its not it’s my uncle Robert. My uncle Robert had an interesting childhood from birth to adulthood. He’s an air force veteran and a fun guy.

My uncle Robert grew up in a family of 13 children. On top of that there was no love toward him and his brothers and sisters. Robert quotes that his parents treated him as if he didn’t exist at an early age his father was an alcoholic, and his mom left the family. So he had to fend for himself at an early age.

Robert was in the air force intelligence. In air force intelligence he would unravel Morse code and transfer I into another code. What he did had top-secret clearance by the U.S. government. Robert quoted that he had some scary moments in the air force intelligence when he would go to a bar people would try to get him to tell his secrets and give away codes.

Robert today is a new man he is a great uncle and a great man he is always kind and funny. He was married but he ended up getting divorced but that didn’t stop my uncle Robert. He still lives a great fun life in a big house. He works as a nurse at physiology department; he assigns pills to people and helps around the hospital. I know it sounds boring compared to being in the air force. He still is very happy with what did and what he’s doing now. One thing Robert wants to change in his life though is that he doesn’t want to feel so much anger in his life. I think that stems from the unhappy childhood

Well that is the life of Robert a great uncle a great man an air force veteran and an all around fun guy. He might have had a bumpy rode as a kid al the way to adulthood but he says it all paid off. And now he’s living in alpine California In a nice house on the hill. And one thing I will never forget the day he taught me the meaning of heffa.

Imagine growing up with polio and being able to be a full-time mom, devoted wife, and a health care provider. Colette Taylor experienced all of this. Colette Taylor’s life started 3-2-49, she was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her parents were Harold and Marily Jones. She spent most of her life in the Mid-west and west. Colette Taylor has an amazing childhood, teenage years, and adulthood.

Colette’s struggle with polio during her childhood made her a strong person. Colette went camping all over the United States in Elementary school. That must have been fun. I wonder at times was it scary? She had polio when she was little. That must have been hard to deal with. I can see the affects polio has on her. Even though Colette had polio living on a ranch must have been a lot of work.

Living on a ranch must have been fun but a lot of work too. Colette lived on a ranch with lots of animals. I’ve always wanted to live on a ranch. It must have taken a lot of work. She went to college in San Fransico. “It was a great experence” Colette said. I hope to be as smart as my mom when I grow up. Going to college was a great experience but marring Bill must have been the happiest time of her life.

Marring my dad must have been a wonderful time. Colette moved to San Diego and married Bill. Moving to San Diego was beautiful. I Know that must have been great to marry a man like Bill. She’s touring Europe. Touring Europe sounds interesting. I would like to tour Europe when I grow up. I hope to marry a man as great as Bill is. Colette’s life has been through a lot of exciting times. Colette Taylor has an amazing childhood, teenage years, adulthood.

Colette went to Grossmont high school. She was a mental heath care provider and did foster care. She married Bill in 1971. Colette has made a difference in every ones life.

Jennifer Sanchez Jacques ½ Res. To. Lit. Checkouts Pages 23-28

Checkouts: by Cynthia Rylant

Love at first sight. Some people believe in it and others don’t. I used to be a non-believer until I read this heart filling novel by Cynthia Rylant called Checkouts. This is about a girl who’s new to a town and falls in love with a bagboy at the grocery store. What I loved was how the book was written, with lots of imagery, suspense, and the plot of the story.

Imagery, is a big part of a story a book should have or I’m not interested, so it’s good this book has a lot. “Only by busting her jar of mayonnaise on the floor, shards of glass and oozing cream decorating the area around hi feet.” (page 25) This quote is extremely important because this is how the girl falls in love with the bagboy. After he breaks her jar of mayonnaise, she loves his clumsiness , and everything about him, from the hair that fell on his face everytime he would reach down to pack her cans, to his brown tattered shoes he wore with no socks. Strange taste in guys don’t you think? But sadly after that lovely day, they didn’t see eachother for another 4 weeks. “Each time she went to the store, her eyes scanned the checkouts at once, her heart in her mouth.”(page 26) I liked how the author used the phrase, “her heart in her mouth” like saying she was going to speak her heart maybe.

Oh my gosh. This story also made me feel like I was watching a suspense movie in my head, on some parts. It had suspense and it made me want to read more. “And when finally they did meet up again, neither offered a clue to the other that he or she, had been the object of their obsessive thought for weeks.” (page 26) This quote really got me suspenseful because I was dying to figure out what was going to happen once they met up again. “It is odd how we sometimes deny ourselves the very pleasure we have longed for and which is finally within reach.” (page 26) This quote matters because when they saw each other again, they pretended like they didn’t even know who each other was. It got me mad too, because if she liked the guy, she could’ve gone over by him and said a hello and picked up his digits. BUT INSTEAD, she didn’t and she didn’t even pay at his cashier stand. She went on the isle over. But not was I only mad at her, I was mad at the bagboy too. WHY THE HECK COULN’T HE STOP HER WHILE SHE WAS HEADING OUT THE STORE?? Well it was their fault that they didn’t say anything to each other. They hated themselves too. Each one regretted not saying anything too each other. But that’s what they get. Trust me the ending will SHOCK you! It had going like, OMG THAT DID NOT JUST HAPPEN.

And now….. for the grand finally……. The ending!!!
“Eventually-in fact, within the week-a kind and intelligent boy who lived very near her beautiful house asked the girl to a movie and she gave up her fancy for the bag boy at the supermarket. And the bag boy himself grew bored with his job that he made a desperate search for something better and ended up in a book store where scores of fascinating girls lingered like honeybees about a hive.” (page 28) Yup. It’s what you’re thinking. They found other people. What a shame, what a shame. But do you know what’s more surprising? Check this quote out. “Some months later the bag boy and the girl with the orange bow again crossed paths, standing in line with their dates at a movie theater, and glancing toward the other, each smiled slightly, then looked away, as strangers on public buses often do, when one is moving off the bus and the other is moving on.” (page 28) Isn’t that just crazy?! They found eachother again, but with different dates. I don’t know if it’s just me, but maybe the girl in the orange bow, or the bag boy could’ve been a little jelous!!

Tell-Tale-Heart

The story Tell-Tale-Heart by Edgar Allen Poe is an interesting story. It is about a crazy, idiotic man who doesn’t like an old man just because of his ‘ Vulture Eye.’ Even thought he is a nice old man, he still hates him and ends up killing him to be forever gone with the eye. After that the police come because their neighbor filled a complaint about loud, suspicious noises. Eventually he starts to freak out because he hears the old mans heart beating when it’s his watch, as he confesses to the police. You can already tell there is a surprising plot, realistic imagery, and a dark scary mood. If you like creepy story this the one for you. Like Edgar Allen Poe said, ‘all that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream’.

The plot in the story is surprising and interesting, it is what gets you motivated to read and read. Some of the quote from the story like this one ‘True! –Nervous- very, very dreadfully nervous I had been and am! But why will you say I’m mad’, really tells you he’s a mad man, and sometimes makes no sense. This next quote ‘ I loved the old man. He never wronged me. He had never given me insult. For his gold I never desire. I think it was his eye, yes it was this! He had an eye of a vulture, a pale blue eye.’’ Says that the old man was nice to him, but his eye made him crazy. You must have to say the plot is interesting but sometimes makes no sense.

The second thing the reader will like about the story is the realistic imagery, in the story it lets you paint a picture in your head. Her is an example, ‘ he was stone dead. His eye would trouble me no more.’ So that obviously states that he killed him and the eye. This second quote tell you why it the ‘Vulture Eye’.‘ He had an eye of a vulture, a pale blue eye, with a film over it.’ His ‘Vulture Eye’ is just a blind eye why would that make somebody crazy.

Lastly the mood is dark and scary and gives you the chills. This quote is one that gives you the chills, ‘Presently, I hear a slight groan, and I knew it was the groan of mortal terror’. The groan of mortal terror is when he kills the old mad. The last quote is even creeper, ‘I put in a dark lantern all closed, closed, so that no light shown out, then I thrust in my head’. I think the dark lantern is just an ordinary old lantern that doesn’t work. The mood in this story make you not want to read the rest but at the same you want to.

Tell-Tale-Heart, by Edgar Allen Poe, introduces a surprising plot, realistic imagery, and a dark scary, mood. You can tell that the ‘Vulture Eye’ really does creep out the crazy mad man. I mean can you believe that he killed the nice old man just to get ride of his eye? When the police came because their neighbors heard noise, would you be creep out. Over all Tell-Tale-Heart was a great story, if you read it you will love it.

story :) (just need concluding paragraph)

Intro Paragraph.

Have you ever felt like someone was watching you? They were watching ever move you make; looking for the right time to pounce. In this story Edgar Allen Poe keeps the reader on the edge of your seat, not knowing what is going to happen next. Tell-tale Heart is about a crazy man, who is Vexed by an old mans pale blue eye. This crazy man ends up killing the Old guy, all because of a pale blue eye. This story is very mysterious and the reader is never going to know what to expect. Tell –tale heart by Edgar Allen Poe, displays a sinister mood, fantastic plot, and a very interesting surprise ending.

1st Body paragraph

The dark and gloomy mood in Tell-tale heart gives the reader a sense of death and doom. “I put in a dark lantern, all closed, closed so tar no light shone out.” this quote displays it is dark and suspenseful. Another quote is, “ Presently I heard a slight groan, and I knew it was the groan of moral terror”. This quote I think has meaning, to me it means that the old man feels the crazy guys presence. I also think that he crazy guy feels the old mans terror. I believe that this story, Tell-tale Heart, is a story that displays a very descriptive mood, that make the reader jump of the edge of his seat with excitement.

2nd body paragraph

The plot in the story Tell-tale Heart there is an absolute fantastic plot! Edgar Allen Poe does a very good job as to leading up to the climax. “With a loud yell, I threw open the lantern and leaped into the room.” In this quote is explains how he was waiting until the right time, and the climax is he jumps into the room to kill the old man. “There was no pulsation. He was stone dead, his eye would trouble me no more.” In this quote the author is going into falling action, leading down from the big and exciting climax. I think that Edgar Allen Poe does a fantastic job on the plot.

3rd body paragraph

Telltale Heart has an amazing surprise ending. One quote from the story is, “Villains!” I shrieked, “dissemble no more! I admit the deed! -tear up the planks-here here! Is the beating of his hideous heart!” What made this ending so amazing is the fact that he gave himself up. He said he could hear the beating of the old mans heart, but in reality, it was his very own heart. He said it got louder, louder until he couldn’t stand it anymore. So he told the officers in his house to go to the place where he hid the body. I think Edgar Allen Poe has a very good way of making an ending of a book interesting

The way the young boy sneaks into the olds man room is very surprising cause you don’t expect anything to happen when it really does.

My novel prject oral summary...

COULD YOU PLEASE TELL ME IF IT'S OKAY BEFORE TOMORROW 11/3. THANKS!

Oral Summary

I read the story Sammy Keyes and the Cold Hard Cash by Wendlin Van Draanen. The main characters in this story are Sammy, Marissa, Grams, and Danny. The minor characters in this story are Casey, Heather, and Sammy’s mom. Intro- Sammy had been going up and down the fire escape for 2 years now and no one has seen her. Today is different. When Sammy went to open the door, she saw the knob turning so she hid behind the door. She went to open the door but, unfortunately the man saw her and the man passed out. Before, he completely passed away he handed Sammy a huge stack of money. He told her to throw it over the fire escape. Then, a few minutes later, the man had passed away.

Problems- Sammy and Heather had problems because at Danny’s pool party Heather showed up with the same bathing suit as Sammy’s best friend had on. When Sammy was looking for Marissa, she thought she had found her a the bottom of the pool so she swam down and lifted her out of the water, when she realized that it wasn’t Marissa it was Heather.

Climax- My favorite part of the book was when Sammy was trying to figure out who the man on the fire escape was. She found out that he had 2 friends that he had met from the military. Also, that the money the man on the fire escape had given her was fake money.

Falling Action- In the end, Sammy figured out that the fire escape man’s two friends were the ones making the fake money. Sammy called the cops and they got arrested for making fake money.

Theme- The theme of the story was “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” I thought this was a good theme because Sammy didn’t know that the man on the fire escape was a military veteran.

Quote- I think an important quote was “I guess I was rich after all” said by Sammy. I thought that was important because Sammy was saying that she is rich with friends and family.

nicks almost competed story

Do you like scary stories? Ones that will chill you to the bone, well if you do here’s a story for you. This response to literature is on the story "The Tell Tale Heart" by Edgar Allen Poe. This creepy story was mainly about a demented man that absolutely hates an elderly man's big pale blue eye. One night he gets up and sneaks into this poor man’s house and kills him. Then, he disassembles him and hides him under the floorboards. That morning the police come and he goes crazy and tells the cops where the dead body is. This book displayed a very dark mood, has fantastic imagery, and has an interesting plot.

Next, this story is very dark and creepy because the narrator is always being very descriptive throughout the whole story. Poe’s writing supports this when he states, “he was stone dead." This makes the reader imagine a lifeless corpse; there is no movement whatsoever. Another good quote from the story is, “all a dull blue, with a hideous veil over it that chilled the very marrow in my bones”. This quote makes the man in the story sound demented and horrible in all ways. It also gives the story a very dramatic touch. As you can see, Poe is very descriptive in his writing.

Edgar Allen Poe has been known for using great imagery, and here’s why. A quote that uses very, very good imagery is, “the disease had sharpened my senses-not destroyed-not dulled….”. This statement shows just how good of a writer Edgar Allen Poe was. “Presently I heard a slight groan, and I knew it was the groan of mortal terror.” That statement was said when the demented man was sneaking into the old mans house and he could hear the old man groaning. It really paints a picture in your mind when you hear this quote and it also gives you the chills.

One major component that makes this story so good is its outstanding plot. It’s interesting because it’s about a man that is vexed by an eye, not by the man but just his eye. So because of that he goes out one night and kills him. He dismembers him and puts him under the floorboards, everything went great, and no one would have known what happened to him because he hid him so well. But instead of getting away he goes insane and tells the police where he hid the body.
